Logistics Manager

Position Overview:
The Logistics Manager is a key member of Alpine Forestry’s four-person management team, working alongside the Operations Manager, Administration Manager, and Business Manager—under the direction of the two company owners. This role plays a vital part in the coordination and execution of land management, forestry, arborist, and wildfire mitigation projects.
The Logistics Manager focuses primarily on the maintenance, efficiency, and improvement of the company’s facilities, equipment, and fleet. They are also responsible for supporting scheduling, field logistics, training, and ensuring that project execution aligns with Alpine Forestry’s high standards for professionalism, environmental responsibility, and safety.
This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role that blends hands-on technical expertise with thoughtful logistical planning and systems development.
Ideal Candidate:
We're looking for a motivated, mechanically-inclined professional with a background in forestry, wildland fire, arboriculture, or a closely related field. The right person is organized, reliable, and takes pride in maintaining a strong operational backbone for the company. Core Responsibilities:
Logistical Planning & Support — 60%
• Troubleshoot equipment and tool malfunctions beyond field crew capability.
• Coordinate repairs, technicians, and part sourcing.
• Transport trailers and heavy equipment as needed.
• Handle errands, gear procurement, and on-call missions.
• Track vehicle and equipment condition, service needs, and usage logs.
• Plan and implement facility improvements and maintenance.
• Support efficient field logistics through systems development and team coordination.Field Operations — 20%
• Supervise crew work and conduct job site inspections.
• Provide on-site training for safe tool and equipment use.
• Assist with active field operations including felling, bucking, chipping, climbing, rigging, and equipment operation.Administrative & Project Planning — 20%
• Assist with crew scheduling and project coordination.
• Track costs and maintain systems for vehicle/equipment documentation.
• Improve workflows for purchasing, usage tracking, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with other managers and owners to continually improve operations.Minimum Requirements:
• Industry-specific field experience (forestry, fire, arboriculture, or land management).
• Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
• Proven mechanical knowledge of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Skilled in towing, hauling, and operating heavy equipment.
• Physically fit and capable of strenuous labor in varied terrain and weather.
• Valid driver's license (Class A CDL preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and digital record keeping.
• Availability for occasional travel as part of job duties.Training & Certifications Provided:
• Basic Wildland Firefighter Training (S-130 / S-190 / ICS-100 / L-180)
• CPR and First Aid
• Additional industry-specific certifications

• This role is intended as a year-round position, but highly qualified seasonal applicants (April–October) may also be considered.
• Starting Pay Range: $26 – $40/hour

Crew Member
The Job: You’ll work on a 4-8 person chainsaw crew to accomplish land management projects timely, safely, and efficiently. Perform chainsaw operation, minor equipment repairs, and manage slash removal.
Projects:
• Tree trimming and removal
• Vegetation thinning
• Deadfall cleanup
• Chipping and green waste hauling
• Slash pile building and burning
• Trail maintenance
• Noxious weed removal
• Reseeding
• Mapping and monitoring
• Wildfire assignmentsQualifications:
• Experience with chainsaws and other industry related equipment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly and create effective working relationships.
• Ability and desire to perform strenuous outdoor work on rough terrain in a variety of inclement weather conditions (e.g. rain, heat, cold) for 8 to 12 hours per day.
• Quick and able learner with a strong work ethic and a keen eye for details.
• Ability to work under pressure and in potentially hazardous situations. -
Crew Leader
The Job: 80% Operations & Logistics. 20% Office & Shop
• Oversee crewmember and gear load up and travel.
• Receive project briefings and relay specifications, procedures, and safety concerns to crewmembers.
• Use mapping to mark project boundaries and take observations.
• Provide assignments and oversight to crewmembers in daily project tasks.
• Provide updates to management on project status and needs.
• Handle interface with clients for the crew as needed.
• Ensure Company gear, equipment, and PPE is functional and used properly.
• Provide quality control on project sites in coordination with managers.
• Coordinate project departure time and end-of-day tasks.
• Ensure trucks and facilities are clean, secure, and ready for the next shift.
• Participate in biomass processing at the work yard.
• Assist managers in the Company's functional areas (operations, business, logistics, administration).
• Ensure time is reported accurately and tracked to a specific project.
• Participate in project planning and crew member assignments.
• Help organize and conduct training for the crew.
• Participate in biannual crewmember performance reviews with the management team.
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of trucks and trailers, tools, and equipment.Qualifications:
